Frequently Asked Questions
What audio formats are supported?
We support conversion between MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC, FLAC, and M4A. You can convert from any of these formats to any other.
Is my audio data private?
Yes, 100% private. All conversion happens locally in your browser using FFmpeg.wasm. Your files never leave your device.
What is the difference between lossy and lossless formats?
MP3, OGG, AAC, and M4A are lossy (smaller files, some quality loss). WAV is uncompressed (largest files). FLAC is lossless compressed (perfect quality, smaller than WAV).
Why does the first conversion take longer?
On first use, the tool downloads FFmpeg.wasm (~31MB). This is cached in your browser for faster subsequent conversions.
What bitrate should I choose?
For music, 192-320 kbps is recommended. For speech/podcasts, 128 kbps is usually sufficient. Higher bitrate means better quality but larger files.
